The Story of Ferentinos Family Farms:
An Ancestral Journey Across Three Regions
On the surface, the "3F" monogram on our logo stands for Ferentinos Family Farms LLC, a registered agricultural business rooted in the community of Francisco, North Carolina. But if you trace the lines of that monogram deeper, it reveals a living map—a timeless ancestral journey connecting three distinct regions of the world, centuries of land stewardship, and an uncompromised commitment to honest, sustainable food.
The First F: Ferentino, Italy
Our journey begins in the historic, sun-drenched hill town of Ferentino, located in the Lazio region of Italy. Famous for its ancient, towering Cyclopean walls built to withstand the test of millennia, Ferentino gave our family our foundational roots and our name. It was here that our ancestors first learned to work in harmony with the earth, embracing a Mediterranean farming philosophy centered on biodiversity, rich soil health, and a deep reverence for the natural cycles of the land.
The Second F: Ferentineika, Greece
As generations passed, our family migrated across the Ionian Sea to Greece. Carrying the identity of their original hometown, they became known as the Ferentinos lineage. The places where they cleared the soil, built their homes, and raised their livestock became affectionately known to locals as Ferentineika (Καλύβια Φερεντινέικα in Greek)—the domain and neighborhood of the Ferentinos clan. From the hilltop coastal villages of Meganisi to the pastoral outposts of western Greece, our family preserved their agrarian heritage, passing down a passion for pure ingredients and resilient, small-scale farming.
The Third F: Francisco, North Carolina
The timeless currents of our history found their modern anchor when we chose to bridge our extensive professional backgrounds with a purposeful return to the earth. For decades, we lived and worked in the bustling metropolis of New York City. Maria built a twenty-year career as an IT Project Manager and Senior Systems Strategist, managing complex, large-scale initiatives, while Filippos established his career in architecture and technical services. Guided by a seed planted deep in our souls by childhood memories of our grandparents working in lush green fields, we purchased our farmhouse and land in the rolling foothills of Francisco, North Carolina.
While Filippos works toward his long-term dream to return to nature and eventually retire as a farmer, Maria stepped up to spearhead the operational launch of the farm. In this interim period, Maria launched the business as a strategic founder—not only to build a robust, scalable foundation for Filippos to transition over to in the future, but also out of a deeply personal, health-conscious commitment to feeding her family the highest quality, most nutritious food possible.
Setting out to turn this vision into a reality came with a steep learning curve, but we met those challenges by blending our old-world instincts with rigorous training and our distinct professional skill sets. Maria completed both the North Carolina Master Gardener program and the Forsyth County Urban Farm School, bringing formal, science-based agricultural expertise to our operation. She leveraged her extensive background in business strategy, cross-functional operations, and milestone project management to navigate complex regulations and establish our corporate LLC structure. Concurrently, Filippos utilized his structural and technical acumen to design functional, exceptionally sturdy, and eco-friendly farm infrastructure.
Today, Ferentinos Family Farms stands as a living testament that true well-being is rooted in health and happiness.
The Clean-Label & Closed-Loop Promise
We believe that truly exceptional food requires an intentional relationship with the environment. To honor the legacy of the three regions that shaped us, we reject modern industrial shortcuts in favor of a strictly sustainable, zero-waste farming ecosystem:
-
The Closed-Loop Feed Program: We partner directly with local businesses to collect pre-consumer restaurant scraps.
-
Zero-Waste Sustainability: These premium ingredients are repurposed into nutrient-dense feed for our poultry, completing a zero-waste loop that naturally returns fertility back to our Stokes County soil.
-
The Clean-Label Standard: This meticulous care culminates in our premium "Clean-Label" egg line launched on July 1, 2026. These products are entirely non-GMO, soy-free, and corn-free, delivering unparalleled purity and culinary quality directly to your table.
Ferentino, Italy → Ferentineika, Greece → Francisco, USA
Our logo is more than just a business mark; it is an unshakeable promise. It embodies the spirit of an ancestral journey across three regions—bringing the absolute best of old-world stewardship, modern expertise, and health-conscious integrity to our North Carolina community.
